Connect Mercury.

Help me connect Mercury to Genie. Walk me through the setup below one step at a time, and configure my assistant where you can.

I will complete sign-in and approvals in Genie or the provider’s own UI. Never ask me to paste passwords, API tokens, or website credentials into this chat. Wait for me at each user action.

What Genie stores: One Mercury API token. Existing connections with a separate spending token keep that token.

How it works:
Mercury issues API tokens from Settings → Tokens, and the token’s kind decides what Genie can do. A **Read Only** token connects and reads. For payments, a **Custom** token with the **Send Money with Approval** scope lets Genie queue a payment in your Mercury dashboard, where an approver releases it. A **Read and Write** token can send at once, but Mercury honours it only from an IP allowlist.
Paste that one token into Genie. Its Mercury permissions apply alongside Genie agent grants, policies and approvals.

Before starting:
1. A Genie account. [Create one](https://genie.paymanai.com/signin) if you have not.
2. A Mercury role that may create API tokens, such as admin.

Setup steps:
1. In Mercury, open **Settings → Tokens** ([app.mercury.com/settings/tokens](https://app.mercury.com/settings/tokens)) and choose **Create an API Token**.
2. Name it *Genie*. Choose **Read Only** for viewing, or **Custom** with read scopes and **Send Money with Approval** for payments awaiting Mercury approval.
3. Create the token and copy it. Mercury shows it only once.
4. Sign in to Genie, open **Accounts** and choose **Add account**. Next to **Mercury**, choose **Connect**.
5. Paste the token and choose **Save**. Genie verifies it with Mercury and shows *Connected as* your business’s name.

After connecting:
With Send Money with Approval, a payment appears in Mercury’s approval queue, and by default someone other than the token’s creator releases it. Read and Write tokens follow Mercury’s own permissions and allowlist requirements.
Mercury deletes tokens it has not seen for 45 days and narrows over-scoped ones, emailing admins a week ahead. An idle connection therefore shows **Needs sign-in**; mint a new token and add it.

To disconnect: Open the Mercury panel and choose **Remove account**, and delete the tokens under Settings → Tokens in Mercury.
